I am Leanna Gilliam, creator of 3Birds Meditative. It is my heartfelt intention to offer guidance and support for those who:

  • are new to meditation or who want to deepen their practice.

  • are seeking ways to be kinder to themselves and the world around them.

  • desire to live a more wakeful life. 

I turned to the practices of meditation, mindfulness and self-compassion at a time when I was struggling with chronic pain and a sense of being in a fog.  As a mom of three girls, a wife, a sister, a friend and a daughter, I was used to giving my best to those around me but rarely felt at ease in my own mind, body or heart. 

I was determined to realize a richer, more fulfilling life that was less focused on pain and the fear that came along with it. Mindfulness practices and daily meditation became a refuge and a resource as I began to unravel the tangles of attachment, perfectionism and anxiety. Meditation and self-compassion were instrumental in creating a foundation for healing. 

Because my life was altered so profoundly, I feel compelled and honored to share what I’ve learned as a way of easing others’ suffering. I aspire to be a resource for those wanting to build a meditation practice so they can be awake in their lives, able to live wholeheartedly, recognize their habitual patterns, and be able to take care of themselves and others from a place of authenticity and compassion.

I am a certified meditation instructor through the 300-hour Dakini Meditation Teacher Training Program and a Mindful Self-Compassion teacher-in-training through the Center for Mindful Self-Compassion. I live in Austin, Texas and love hiking, cooking, reading, resting and windmills!
